Frequently Asked Questions
Please contact us if you have a question
that is not covered in our current FAQs.
1. Is there anything that Recognition for All will not recognise?
Yes. We will not recognise any academic or training course achievement which would normally receive its own certificate. However, if the achievement is something special, say, a blind person learning to play the piano or a person terrified of water learning to swim we may treat it as a special case. We will also reserve absolutely the right not to recognise something which we consider to be inappropriate, morally objectionable or illegal. Apart from these we will consider any application for recognition from anyone and do our best to process it.
2. Do I need a person's permission to apply for a certificate for them?
No. Permission is needed only for entering their name, details and achievement in the Scroll of Honour on the Recognition for All website.
3. Does the person being recognised have to be alive?
No. We feel that the issuing of a certificate and an entry on the Scroll of Honour for people who have died is a fitting memorial tribute to them and their achievements. However, the permission of their next of kin is required before the entry can appear.
4. Can I apply for recognition for myself?
Yes. We welcome such applications realising that it is an appropriate way to mark some achievement that you are proud of, perhaps being married for 40 years, walking the Pennine Way, or inventing something.
5. Can I apply for recognition for a group?
Yes. We welcome applications for group achievements, perhaps for a Women's Institute celebrating being formed 75 years ago or a cricket club making an overseas tour.
6. My organisation/company wants to recognize some particular people. Will Recognition for All do this?
Yes. We are happy to do this and show the name of the organisation/company in the citation on the recipients' certificates. Organisation Order Form.
7. I am not a British National can I apply for recognition?
Yes. You can apply, in just the same way as a British National may, for some achievement that has happened outside the UK. However, we can take payment only in a currency which will automatically convert to British Pounds Sterling.
8. Can I apply for recognition for several achievements at one time?
Yes... but. The Scroll of Honour entry can list as many achievements as you like (with verification), but the recognition certificate may show only one achievement. We can issue more than one certificate for one person, but to do that you will need to make additional applications and the regular charges will apply.
9. Will Recognition for All make the entry in the Scroll of Honour when the certificate is issued?
No. We are required under data protection legislation to obtain the permission of the person named in the certificate before we can make the entry. In the case of persons who have died we need the permission of the next of kin.
10. Can the entry in the Scroll of Honour appear there indefinitely?
Yes. The fee for putting the entry on the Scroll of Honour, which covers the first 12 months, is £16. As long as the annual renewal fee of £10 is paid or the permanent inclusion fee of £99, the entry will remain on the Scroll of Honour.
11. How will Recognition for All check that the information given in applications is true?
We ask you for the names, telephone numbers and email addresses of two adults who can verify that what is being claimed is true. We shall take what they say at face value; Recognition for All operates on a trust basis and we expect the best of everyone.
